Valle Nevado ski resort in Chile is off to an extraordinary start for its Winter ’24 season, boasting mid-winter conditions that have skiers and snowboarders buzzing. As one of South America’s largest resorts, Valle Nevado received a staggering 64 inches (163cm) of snowfall in just the past week, bringing their total for the season to 135 inches (344cm). This amount already surpasses half of their average annual snowfall of 240 inches (609cm).
Thanks to abundant snowfall in late May, Valle Nevado was able to open its doors three weeks ahead of schedule on June 7th, 2024. The resort plans to extend its ski and snowboard season until October 6th, 2024, providing enthusiasts with an extended window to enjoy the exceptional snow conditions.
For American skiers and snowboarders, the allure of South America in July and August for snowy adventures is undeniable. While future snowfall patterns may vary, early signs point to a promising season for Valle Nevado and its neighboring resorts.
A video captured by a Valle Nevado employee on June 14th, 2024, showcases the breathtaking scenery of fresh snow covering the slopes, adding to the excitement of the season.
