Philip Rüping (GER) and Baloutaire PS (Balou du Rouet x Chacco-Blue) won Sunday’s CSI4* 1.60m Deutsche Kreditbank AG Grand Prix in Hohen Wieschendorf, Germany.

“This horse is simply incredible,” second placed Emanuelsson praised her horse Canbella Blue PS. “She’s only ten and I’ve had her since she was five. The guys here ride super fast, so I thought: I’ll just do my rounds and see what comes of it.”

With the 13-year-old Balou du Rouet-son Baloutaire PS, the rider from Paul Schockemöhle’s stables stayed clear in the jump-off between the best twelve. His time of 37.55 seconds wasn’t the fastest in the jump-off, but it was the fastest clear. Emma Emanuelsson (SWE) jumped into second place with her 10-year-old Canbella Blue PS (Cantolar x Chacco-Blue) in 39.22 seconds, while Christian Ahlmann (GER) and Clintrexo Z (Clintissimo x Rex Z) placed third in 39.51.

“Clintrexo was out of the sport for quite a long time without us being able to really say what the problem was.” third placed Ahlmann explained. “I’m all the happier that he feels so good and is having fun again. I’ve been building him up for the last five or six months and the Grand Prix today was his first really big task – I’m really really happy.”

“He jumped clear in many good classes during the last few months, but sometimes I didn’t quite dare to take the full risk,” Philip Rüping explained. “He’s really a super sensitive horse, but today after the round I had such a relaxed and good feeling that I thought: I’ll let him run, try a few percent more than usual and he did really well,” he said about Baloutaire PS.

Richard Vogel, who is currently almost ‘unstoppable’, showed that the course could be completed even faster. The world number nine risked everything with Cydello (Cascadello x Forsyth). With a fence down in 36.71 seconds, the pair ended up in sixth place. Armin Jun. Schäfer (GER) and Costa Gavras (Contadoro x Quidam de Revel) finished fourth, followed by Tobias Meyer (GER) and Caillou 57 (Christian x Andiamo) in fifth.
