Near Miss: Climbers Turn Back on Nanga Parbat’s Rupal Face
After a period of silence, updates have emerged from the Rupal side of Nanga Parbat. David Goettler, along with French climbers Tiphaine Duperier and Boris Langenstein, attempted a summit push on the Schell route without oxygen or external support.
Goettler emphasizes that the essence of climbing in pure alpine style holds greater value than simply reaching the summit. Despite their determination, the summit remained out of reach for the trio. Goettler and his team will share their experiences and reflections soon.
Nanga Parbat’s Rupal Face remains a formidable challenge, reminding climbers of the unpredictable nature of high-altitude mountaineering.
